Recently, Taylor and I chatted about building a custom campervan for our adventures. However, we are not in the position to buy and build one at the moment. What we decided, let’s go camping anyway, but in Taylor’s Subaru Crosstrek.
Taylor did some research on the internet for free campsites near Moosehead Lake, since most campgrounds are closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. We found one and planned to take the trip out on Saturday with the intent to camp in the back of the Crosstrek.
We arrived at the campsite, 5 miles down a dirt logging road, to find the three sites occupied. Strike one. The area had no cellphone reception, so searched for signal and looked for another option. The next one was only about twenty-minutes from Greenville, Maine.
The next sites were perfect, private and in a great spot. However, CLOSED until further notice due to Coronavirus. Ugh, strike two.
We didn’t want to strikeout completely, so we called Taylor’s Dad and told him we wanted to camp on his land in Abbot, Maine. He has been clearing the land with big plans for the future, but we wanted to just use it for the night.
We setup camp in the back end of the land, made a fire-ring and camped for the night!
Take a listen to our experience of camping in the back of a Subaru Crosstrek and our adventure. It was unique and fun, we might actually do it again next weekend!
